Tell Governor Newsom: We Need 100% Clean Energy by 2030

More than three million acres of land have been burned in California wildfires so far this year, making 2020 the worst wildfire season on record. Thousands have lost their homes, and nearly our entire state has been blanketed by toxic smoke.

The science is clear: Climate change is worsening California's wildfires and endangering public health.

Just two years ago, CALPIRG stood by then-Gov. Jerry Brown as he signed a law committing California to 100% clean electricity by 2045. But as Gov. Newsom acknowledged last Friday, climate change is here, and "we're going to have to fast-track our efforts." We agree. So let's show him that Californians want his strong leadership to lead the nation to act on climate.
